Old Dominion Electrolysis (ODE) has been operated successfully in McLean by the owner since she established it in 1987. The owner is a registered nurse with extensive experience in patient care and staff/patient education. In the 1980’s her interests turned to dermatology and endocrinology, where she found female hirsutism (excess hair) to be a neglected women’s health issue. She saw a need for knowledgeable, expert practitioners and completed training to become an electrologist.
The owner/operator is a national board certified electrologist and a registered nurse. To date she has successfully treated over 1,000 clients. She treats clients for whom laser hair removal treatments were unsuccessful or for whom laser was deemed to be inappropriate to the case by the laser physician. She also specializes in treating women whose hirsutism is accompanied by symptoms of excess weight, acne, history of irregular menstural periods, and carbohydrate cravings. These symptoms sometimes are implicated with polycystic ovarian disease or type II diabetes.
Your first visit to ODE will include a free 15 minute standard consultation or a $35 comprehensive consultation:
- discuss causes of hirsutism, including hormonal imbalances and medication
- explain electrolysis procedures
- give an estimate of time and cost
- discuss alternative methods of treatment
- make referrals when indicated.
